India’s first single male adoptive parent unites with American NGO to launch ideal village for orphans
Sandip Soparrkar teams up with The Miracle FoundationWHO: Sandip Soparrkar, renowned Bollywood dance choreographer to such international stars as Madonna, Shakira, and Beyonce, is teaming up with the Miracle Foundation (TMF) to serve as the NGO’s Indian Brand Ambassador. Soparrkar recently became the first single Indian male to adopt a child (with son Arjun in picture) legally in the country. His passion for helping children and giving orphans a better life makes him a perfect partner for TMF, whose mission is to empower children to reach their full potential, one orphan at a time.
WHAT: Soparrkar, along with TMF Founder Caroline Boudreaux, American philanthropist Nav Sooch, and Director of Missions Dr. Manjeet Singh Pardesi, will be part of an international press conference at the Grand Opening Celebration of Sooch Village, India’s first “ideal village” of orphanages. The community will have 20 free-standing cottages, which will include a soccer field-sized playground, gardens, and a prayer hall for Hindu, Muslim, and Christian children. Each cottage will house 10 orphans, who will be raised in an intimate, loving family environment and receive individual attention from their house mothers. TMF’s core philosophy is to follow the family principle as close as possible, attachment to parents and the home receiving utmost importance.WHEN & WHERE: Sunday, March 16, 2008, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in the city of Ranchi, located in the state of Jharkhand in Eastern India. VISUAL OPPORTUNITIES: Hundreds of children, villagers, government officials, and Indian and American celebrities will commemorate the festive occasion with food, dancing, and elephant rides as our dream home is opened to the children. The day’s program will include a traditional Indian ceremonial procession, international media press conference, guided tour of the facilities, and dance performances by our children. One-on-one interviews with Soparrkar, Boudreaux, Sooch, and Pardesi will be made available after the press conference
