Paul D. Stone, age 64, brings over 30 years of experience in private equity investing. He has built a successful track record of acquiring, operating, and scaling companies across a wide range of industries. One of Stone’s hallmark achievements was the acquisition and turnaround of DMX, a leading international provider of business music and sound systems. Acquired out of bankruptcy, DMX underwent significant operational improvements and strategic asset sales under Stone’s leadership. The company was ultimately sold for $86 million, generating equity returns of more than 15x for the founders. Stone served as Founder, Director, and President of DMX.
Prior to DMX, Stone was Executive Vice President of Activant Solutions, a $400 million technology firm that developed and supported software systems for automotive parts distributors and hardware retailers. Facing poor management and a burdensome debt load, the company was in distress. Stone led its stabilization, improving cash flow through the implementation of efficient operating systems and restructuring its infrastructure—restoring investor confidence.
Stone’s earlier career includes his role as Chief Financial Officer of Capstar Broadcasting Corporation, which became the largest owner of radio stations in the U.S. within 18 months. Following a successful IPO, Capstar merged with Clear Channel Communications. As CFO, Stone played a critical role in raising $2.1 billion in investment capital, managing numerous acquisitions and sales, integrating operating units, and developing scalable financial and management reporting systems—all within a highly compressed timeframe. Stone resides in Westlake, Texas, where he is an active member of the community. He currently serves on the boards of several privately held companies and nonprofit organizations.
