Savya’s Story

Savya still remembers what it felt like to hold her mother’s hand when she was little.

Life in their small home wasn’t easy.  Money was tight, and they didn’t have any luxuries, but they had what matters most: togetherness, shared meals, safety, and the quiet comfort of belonging.

Then, tragedy struck.  Her father died, and along with the grief came a financial strain that grew heavier each month. Bills didn’t pause. Debt didn’t wait.

Her mother worked hard, but when the income couldn’t keep up with expenses, she did what no parents should have to do: she agreed to put her girls in an orphanage.

The separation was painful.  The girls had structure and continued in school, but that wasn’t what anyone wanted.

Savya wanted her family back.

When the Miracle Foundation got involved, the focus changed. Instead of asking, “How do we take care of Savya in an orphanage?” we asked, “What does this family need to get back together?”

Our team worked closely with Savya’s mother to understand the root challenges and how she could earn enough money to care for her children.  How were they going to be educated and fed?  How were they going to process their grief and trauma of being separated?

Through Miracle Foundation’s family-strengthening approach, her mother was connected to a women’s community group that helped her with a no-interest loan to pay down her debt.  Miracle provided some funding for her to start a small business.  With steady guidance, support, and access to the right resources, she started paying down debt and building a reliable income.

And then one day, Savya got to go home.

Savya was supported in ways that went beyond academics. She received counseling to process her grief and anger. She was given the tutoring needed to stay on track in school, even when learning moved online. Mentors encouraged her growing love of literature and languages. Over time,  she began to picture a future she could shape for herself.

Today, she is pursuing higher education with confidence. Her 3 older sisters are following their own dreams. Her mother runs her small business from her home with pride and stability. The grief that once defined their story has been replaced with possibility.

Savya’s journey is deeply personal. But it’s also part of something bigger.

Around the world, many children are separated from their families because of poverty, not because of a lack of love. In fact, most children living in institutions have a living parent who could care for them if given the right support.

This is why Miracle Foundation is part of a growing global movement focused on prevention, family strengthening, and reunification. We believe separation should be the last resort, not the first response.

When we equip caregivers with resources, provide counseling and practical tools, and walk alongside families rather than replace them with institutions, children thrive.

Savya and her sisters didn’t need to be rescued.

Her family needed to be strengthened.

Because of supporters like you, that’s exactly what happened.

A family for every child isn’t just a vision.

It’s a movement.

And together, we are building it.
