8.5 Million Miracles in the Making

Today, there are 8 million children living in institutions around the world and almost 500,000 children in the United States foster care system. None of them want to be there. Ask any child and they will tell you that their biggest dream is to be part of a loving family — it’s where they thrive. With global awareness, collaboration and your help, our goal of a loving family for every child is fully achievable by 2040.

  • The numbers:
    • 8 million children live in institutions worldwide (UNICEF 2015)
    • 80% have living relatives (Save the Children)
    • 437,465 children are in the US foster care system (AFCARS 2017)
    • 25% of them are available for adoption (AFCARS 2017)
  • Children want:
    • To live at home with their own family
    • To be heard and participate in decisions that affect them
    • To be given an education and a future
    • To live with someone who is genuinely interested in their life and gets excited when they achieve something
  • What if…
    • …every child had a loving family?
    • …there were systems in place to monitor and ensure they’re in the right place?
    • …all children felt a sense of love and belonging?
    • …you had a chance to be a hero?Would you?
